Domain Name Registration
A domain name is your permanent street address on the Internet. It is your web address with a unique name ending with an extension .com, .net, or .org, (e.g., www.yourcompanyname.com). A domain name establishes your company's identity on the web. Once you have registered, no one can use your domain name while you continue to pay for that registration.
You can check the availability of domain names online,
or I can check for you. Many companies, including InterNIC.net have
lists of all companies that can register domain names. The Accredited Registrar
Directory provides a listing of ICANN-accredited domain name registrars that
are currently taking domain name registrations.
For more information, see Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
