An application is required for a merchant account. Your account will be issued on behalf of FDIC Insured Bank. You must meet the following requirements:

- You must have Javascript and cookies enabled on your computer.
- You must be an officer/owner of your business and authorized to act on behalf of the company.
- You must have a fully functional website up and running.
- You must have a Federal Tax ID number for your business or Social Security number if not incorporated.
- You must be at least 21 years of age.
- The checking account where your transactions are to be deposited must be a business account or an account used primarily for business.
Once your application is submitted, it will take approximately 15-seconds to process and issue an account for VISA and MasterCard. American Express is issued within 24-hours. Once the merchant account and payment gateway are issued, you may login to begin customization of your AuthorizeNet account.
You can begin accepting live transactions within 24 to 48-hours of account issuance (during weekdays). 100% of the applicants are approved and instantly issued a merchant account to accept credit cards from their website. Make sure to follow instructions carefully. Failure to do so will delay the account being issued or in rare cases the account may be cancelled.
The maximum amount of TOTAL monthly sales you can initially process with this account is $9,000 (depending on your credit scoring), with an average transaction NO GREATER than $300. EVERY site is audited to make sure you are adhering to VISA/MasterCard policies. If you need an account with higher processing limits, you can be accommodated.
How Merchants Accouts are Process
Once your application has been process, your credit report is electronically evaluated. The amount of credit card transactions you will be permitted to process monthly is determined by the result of your credit file scoring. The higher your score (higher is better), the more you can process monthly. A merchant account with a unique number will be issued to you immediately, along with an AuthorizeNet account username and password. Many shopping cart providers have fully integrated the AuthorizeNet payment gateway. All you do is select AuthorizeNet as the payment processor in the administration section of your shopping cart software. It will ask for the Username. Enter the name that is issued to you.
Your AuthorizeNet account is provided with Real Time order processing from your website, and a Virtual Terminal, so that you are able to enter orders manually through your private login area. This is used for orders you receive by phone, fax or email.
Once the transaction has been processed, the funds are normally deposited within 24 to 48 hours following settlement, into the checking account you provided on your application.
