Grant
Bishop Williams, Jr. was born in Edgefield, South Carolina. He
is the 4th of 8 children born to his parents, Grant Bishop Williams,
Sr., of McCormick, South Carolina, and Charlotte Bell (Higgins)
Williams of Edgefield, South Carolina. His family moved to the
Washington, DC, area when he was two, and he was subsequently
educated in the DC public school system.
He accepted Christ as his Saviour in 1950 at the Gospel Ark Temple Church (Bibleway
Worldwide) where his family was founding members. His family then joined the
Tried Stone Holiness Church where he was active in youth activities. Later he
joined Rehoboth Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, which was later renamed First
United Church of Christ where Bishop Monroe R. Saunders, Sr., was Pastor. He
attended the Rehoboth Bible Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. While in the US
Navy, he worshiped and ministered in the armed forces chapel system. Later served
as Youth Pastor and teacher at Greater Little Zion Baptist Church in Fairfax,
Virginia. He was one of the first to attend the Minister's Institute of Church
of the Great Commission and later served as an instructor there.
Bishop Williams attended Armstrong High School and graduated from Eastern High
School, in Washington, DC. Upon graduation, he attended State University of New
York, Albany, NY, where he receive a BA in Sociology; and the University of Buffalo,
NY, where here received a BS in Social Science and Social Psychology and where
he also served as a Teaching Assistant. He has also attended Pepperdine University,
Malibu, CA, receiving an NIA in Human and Organizational Resources Management;
Antioch School of Law, Washington, DC, where he received an MLS in Legal Studies;
Harvest Christian College, where he was a Ph.D. Candidate and received an ABD
in Pastoral Counseling and Theology; and he received his Ph.D. from Andersonville
Baptist Seminary, Camillia, GA.
Bishop Williams served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1995. In a civilian capacity,
he has worked for the Department of the Army, Department of the Navy, and the
General Services Administration. He has published several articles and documents
on African American issues and racism. He has served on numerous boards including
Boys and Girls Club, Dale City, VA; Vice President Gore’s Committee to Review
the Federal Government; Officer's Christian Fellowship, Naval Reserve Officers
Association; Naval Officer's Association; Reserve Officers Association; Naval
Fleet Reserve; Submarine Officer's Association; American Association of Christian
Counselors; and The International Association of Counselors and Therapists.
Bishop Williams currently serves as Pastor of The Lord's Church and Christian
Center; Executive Vice President (Emeritus) of Faith Bible College and Seminary;
Visionary, Founder, and Senior Presiding Bishop of The Lord's Churches, Fellowships
and Ministries International, Inc. In addition, he also serves as Pastoral Advisor
for Women Aglow Fort Washington, MD, Chapter; Director-Elect, Great Commission
Global Ministries, Camp Springs, MD; Chief Executive Officer, TLC Community Development
Corporation, Clinton, MD; and Consultant, Word of Life Community Development
Corporation, Brick, NJ. Bishop Williams is married to the Fellowship's Elect
Lady, the Former Alberta Bell of Ridgeway, South Carolina. They are the parents
of nine children: Cannella Renita (Minister); Troy A.; Carmarlita Regina (First
Lady); Grant Bishop, III; Thomas Franklin; Reginald M. (deceased); Shonne Augusta;
Angela Marie; Eglas Dikan (Ugandan Daughter), and Michelle Renee (deceased).
They are the proud grandparents of 16 grandchildren, one of whom, Isaiah Mason
Green is in heaven with the Lord. It is in his memory that the ISAIAH MASON GREEN
FOUNDATION was established to aid the children of the world.
